Turaj Aslani grabs Bronze Frog of Plus Camerimage

TEHRAN, Dec. 3 (MNA) -- Iranian cameraman Turaj Aslani has won the Bronze Frog at the Plus Camerimage, the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography, which was held from November 24 to December 1, 2012, in the city of Bydgoszcz in the northern Poland.

He received the prize at the Main Competition section for “Rhino Season”, by Iranian director Bahman Qobadi.

Twelve other cinematographers were also in the lineup for this section of the festival, which was held in Bydgoszcz, Poland from November 24 to December 1.

The Golden Frog went to Nicolas Bolduc for “War Witch” directed by Kim Nguyen from Canada, and cinematographer Caroline Champetier won the Silver Frog for “Holy Motors” by Leos Carax from France.

On November 23, the Sixth Asia Pacific Screen Awards honored Aslani with an Award for Achievement in Cinematography for “Rhino Season”, which is a co-production between Iraqi-Kurdistan and Turkey.

In September 2012, Aslani also won the prize for best cinematography at the San Sebastian Film Festival for this film.

Plus Camerimage is the greatest and most recognized festival dedicated to the art of cinematography.

The Iranian cameraman Mahmud Kalari won a Silver Frog at the 2011 Plus Camerimage. He received the award for the acclaimed Iranian film “A Separation”.
